Safar Filmy Comedy Ka is an Indian Hindi-language non-fiction television show that celebrates the evolution of comedy across 100 years of Indian cinema. The show was launched by SAB TV as a tribute to the comedians and industry veterans who helped shape the comedy genre in Bollywood.
Each episode explored a different style or trend of comedy, including physical comedy, action comedy, slapstick, cult comedy and mistaken-identity situations. The programme brought together popular actors and comedians from different generations and gave them an opportunity to share their experiences and memorable stories from their cinematic careers.
Hosted by Sunil Grover and Muskaan Mihani, the series featured celebrated Bollywood personalities including Juhi Chawla, Prem Chopra, Divya Dutta, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra and Asrani. Other reported guests and participants included Chunky Pandey, Manoj Joshi, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Johnny Lever, Satish Kaushik, Boman Irani and Mithun Chakraborty.
Safar Filmy Comedy Ka premiered on SAB TV on 27 January 2013 at 9:00 PM. Produced by Dheeraj Kumar and Zuby Kochhar of Creative Eye Limited, the show was designed as a family entertainment property celebrating the history and changing styles of comedy in Indian cinema.
